It’s 3:07am, lets BLOG about it.

It’s 3:07 am on this cold blistery Tuesday morning and what am I doing up you say? Ohhh you know, just being a mom to a VERY active almost 9 month old. He thinks he is invincible. Pulling himself up then falling only to be confused as what just transpired. This kid is on the go go go, and is going through a growth-spurt too thus the reason I am up. Thanks kid. I suppose there are benefits of my being awake at this point..maybe I’ll get to those eventually but for now let me just say that I am tired. I’m always tired. Not just the new mom tired, but the ‘I wish I could get 5 hours of consecutive good old past the rem cycle’ sleep. Now, I know what you’re thinking..that won’t ever happen again, but a girl can most certainly dream, right? Right?

I wonder if other moms who are woken up because of their child blog also? Or do they do what I wish I was doing and crawl back under the warm blankets and pull their kid in close because that’s sure to get their kid back asleep fast? I refuse to cave in for my kid, so now it’s me watching him pull off the fireplace edge protectors for the umpteenth time and pretend I’m mad about it. I’d be lying right now if I said I didn’t just get up and correct the situation. Do I get an award since I’m almost certainly sleep-walking and playing mom all at the same time? I do? Great, I’ll take a large coffee with peppermint creamer (thus the season am I right?).

I have to admit that I’m a bit jealous how quickly my husband can go back to sleep once our son wakes us up. It’s like it never even happened. What’s that all about men? Us moms are up for a while just thinking about what’s on our to “do list ” (mind you it’s never-ending) and you’re next to us just snoozing away without a care in the world. Must be a dad “thing” because what I hear from the majority of my mom friends, their significant other does the same thing. Hastag lame.

Since I’m up (as is my son), I’m going to start writing out my “to-do” list for the day which consists of a visit to the gym, work, a visit with Santa (at the mall) which will in turn lead to a mall food as my lunch (barf) followed by more work, grabbing Brax from daycare, bath-time, dinner making and hopefully bed for Brax and I both. I’m hoping my son will decide he wants to sleep before 10:40 pm, but again I’ll be sure not to get my hopes up. Oh, how must I forget? Not only has he been keeping me up late at night as he decides what a suitable bedtime is, BUT he also gets me up at  3:07am? What’s the deal kid? Don’t you know how important sleep is? I guess it’ll catch up with you later when you’re my age praying to sneak in time for a nap or just a minute to pee in private. Moms, you know what I’m talking about.

On a side note, I’m sitting in my sons room on the floor watching him play and to my utmost dismay he does not appear as though he will be going to sleep again anytime soon so your prayers are welcomed as it is sure to be a long day. I guess I should end my rant and grab myself a cup of joe (with peppermint creamer) and do something productive..but what shall I do? Watch Christmas movies, head to the gym or do something like fold laundry? Christmas movies are calling my name, but FIRST I need to get this little rebel back to sleep. Wish me luck!

Until next time
