2022 Year in Review

I feel like I did all of the things in 2022. I traveled. I ran all of the damn miles. I tried new things. I made new friends. I was outdoors more. I read more. I loved and laughed more. I had an overall really good year. Of course there were things that were hard from time to time, but at the end of the day, it was a pretty solid year!

Places Visited (for work):

  • Baltimore, Maryland
  • Washington D.C.
  • Phoenix, Arizona
  • Savannah, Georgia
  • Ohio (but we don’t talk about Ohio)

Notable Races:

  • Zeigler 1/2 Marathon, Kalamazoo
  • Bayshore 1/2 Marathon, Traverse City
  • Turtle 1/2 Marathon, Mackinac Island
  • Ragnar Relay (16.2 miles), Grayling

Events:

  • Cole graduating both High School and College
  • Beckett starting Kindergarten, mainstreamed
  • Beckett had another surgery to repair his ear drum-it was a success!
  • I had a turbinate reconstruction and septoplasty surgery. It was also a success!
  • We donated four more embryos to a new donor family-they’re pregnant!
  • Beckett played his first season of tee-ball and loved it! I was his coach.
  • Braxton played both spring and fall ball, and he’s obsessed!
  • My dad got married
  • Braxton is thriving in Taekwondo
  • Carrie and I went to another MSU football game. We have fun every time we go!

Notable Memories:

  • Savannah was so much fun! There was so much history and beauty! I cannot wait to go back.
  • The Ragnar relay over my birthday this year was sooooo much fun! Can’t wait for Ragnar 2023.
  • I loved all of the 1/2 marathons, minus the hills, I ran this year! It’s such a fun thing my older sister and I do together! We did four races together this year!
  • All of the days we spent in the pool or at the lake! The boys had a BLAST jumping off their Grandma Lisa’s house boat this summer.
  • Running in Arizona in the morning was beautiful. The views were stunning.
  • Visiting Washington D.C. was fun! It was super hot, but we made the most of the experience.
  • Spent a lot of time with friends and family this year!
  • We spent a lot of time at the Zoo, outside, swimming and just having a fun year!

Some of my Goals for 2023

I’ve broken my goals into categories. Here’s what I’ve come up with thus far.

  • Personal Goals: Learn a new sign each week, publish my poetry book, write a biography (2023 planned publication), read 25 books
  • Healthy Goals: Run 500 miles, cut body fat % (not sure what that looks like yet), consistently workout 4 days/week, practice self-care
  • Career Goals: Continue to grow as a leader, gain more clients for BMM, marketing plan for business idea, 1 new blog post/week + monetize
  • Financial Goals: Move $200 each week into savings, pay off smaller student loans, spend less on groceries each month
  • Spiritual Goals: Get back to church (virtually or in-person), read scripture daily
  • Relationship + Family Goals: 1 date night/month, more one-on-one time with Braxton, more arts + crafts, more family outings, family trip, husband/wife trip, less swearing

I’m excited for 2023. I have some fun places planned for travel as well as some exciting races. I’m excited to get my work published, and to start focusing on my a bit more. What are you most excited for in 2023?!
