9 Things I Love About You

In honor of my son’s 9th birthday, I wanted to share nine things I absolutely adore about him. Keep in mind there are millions of things, but since he’s turning nine, I wanted to focus on nine. He’s an incredible kid, so it was hard to narrow down.

  1. I Love….your BIG heart. You are such an incredibly caring and love kid. You wear your heart on your sleeve, and you aren’t afraid to show your emotions. Sometimes they can get the best of you, but I love your heart.
  2. I Love….your constant quest for knowledge and curiosity. You are always seeking to learn new things. Whether it’s by reading books about history or asking a thousand questions, your inquisitive little mind is always looking for the next piece of knowledge it wants to learn. You’re a continuous seeker of knowledge, and I love that about you. It’s made you a well-rounded, intelligent and inquisitive individual.
  3. I Love…your sense for adventure! I love how you’re always up for a new adventure. Whether it’s trips up North, hikes or something else, you’re always engaged and excited to explore new things!
  4. I Love…your  personality.  You are legit one of the funniest human beings on this Earth. You’re so incredibly witty, and I love when you get into a giggling fit. You laugh is my favorite. I love how you try to scare us and trick us all the time. You are a pretty clever child, and I love you for that.
  5. I Love…your natural instinct to look out for others. You have always been someone who puts others first. Whether it’s myself, your dad or your brother, you’re always putting yourself last. Despite you and you brother fighting all the time, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do for him. You’re also the sweetest when it comes to one of us being sick. You’ll do anything and everything to help us. You also help others at school, within your extended family and complete strangers. You’re the sweetest!
  6. I Love…your competitiveness. I love that you always strive to be the best. Whether it’s in sports or school, you constantly seek ways to improve. You are constantly reading to build up your reading skills. You’re starting to run and workout to build strength to be a better athlete. You’re simply relentless in this area. Sometimes you can be a bit too competitiveness (you get that from me) and while others may see this as a fault, I think it’s a great attribute that you possess. Never settle on mediocracy as your destined for success in anything you put your mind too.
  7. I Love…that you love me, even when I fail as a mother. There are days when I fail as a mother. For instance, I might yell too much and lose my patience quickly, but you always say, “I love you” and ask me not to apologize when I apologize. You’re the most forgiving child.
  8. I Love…how you inspire myself and others to be a better person. Besides your father, you’re my biggest cheerleader. You push me to do and be my best in everything I do whether it’s my running or writing, you’re there cheering me on. It’s not just me either. You’re inspiring people all around you every single day.
  9. I Love…your random hugs + “I love you”s. One of my favorite things that I absolutely love about you is how you will randomly come up to me and give me a hug. You also will randomly say “I love you”. Both of those things make my heart swell.

You’re such an incredibly child. I could go on and on about all the reasons I love you, but if I did that this post would be never-ending. I pray that your 9th year is the best yet.  Keep being an incredible human being.
