As our son turns 10, it’s impossible not to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had with this remarkable young man. A decade of love, laughter, and countless memories that make our hearts swell with pride. Today, we want to celebrate our son and the wonderful person he is becoming by sharing 10 things we absolutely adore about him.
- Passion for Sports, Especially Baseball and the Detroit Tigers: From the moment he could swing a plastic bat, our son has been enamored with the world of sports. Baseball, in particular, has a special place in his heart, and his love for the Detroit Tigers is unwavering. Whether it’s watching games, collecting memorabilia, or playing catch in the backyard, his enthusiasm for the sport is infectious. His competitive nature shines out on the field, and we love watching him excel at this sport.
- Curiosity and Passion for History: His thirst for knowledge is truly inspiring. Our son’s passion for history and learning is boundless. We’ve spent countless hours watching the History Channel, reading historical books, and engaging in discussions about the past. His curiosity is a testament to his inquisitive mind and his eagerness to understand the world around him.
- Running Races Together: As a family that loves staying active, one of our favorite activities is running races together. There’s something magical about the way he laces up his sneakers and matches my stride the best he can. These moments not only keep us fit but I love being able to spend these moments with him as he talks about the things he’s passionate about as our sneakers hit the pavement.
- Being a Great Big Brother: Watching him be a big brother to his younger sibling is heartwarming. Despite the occasional sibling squabble, it’s evident that his little brother looks up to him with admiration. The way he navigates this role with patience and love is truly commendable. He’s protective, and he is committed to help his brother thrive within the world despite his deafness.
- Passion for Animals and Vegetarian Commitment: Braxton’s love for animals goes beyond cuddles and playtime. His commitment to being a vegetarian stems from a deep love and respect for all living creatures. It’s a choice that reflects his empathy and kindness towards the world around him.
- Love for the Outdoors and Fort Building: Nature is Braxton’s playground. Whether it’s hiking, camping for Cub Scouts, or just exploring, he finds joy in every leaf, rock, and tree. Building forts is a favorite pastime, fostering creativity and a deep connection with the environment.
- Tinkering and Creativity: His love for tinkering and creating is a testament to his inventive spirit. From constructing elaborate LEGO masterpieces to experimenting with science kits, our son’s creativity knows no bounds. His eagerness to explore and build is a constant source of joy.
- Pure Love for Family and Friends: The way our son loves is truly special. His affection for family and friends is genuine and heartwarming. Whether it’s a hug, a kind word, or a shared laugh, his love radiates warmth and brings people together. I’ll never get over the random hugs.
- Being a Great Friend: His kindness extends beyond family, making him a wonderful friend. His ability to connect with others, offer support, and share in their joys and sorrows makes him a cherished companion. He’s also the kid who befriends kids who might not have friends. He’s thoughtful and kind and likes to stick up for others.
- Desire for a Peaceful World: As he grows, our son’s caring nature becomes more evident. He worries about the violence in the world and dreams of a more peaceful existence. His compassion for others and his desire to make the world a better place are qualities that make us incredibly proud.
