  1. Overly tight psoas muscles can and will cause low back pain too because they pull down in the spine. Also along the lines of careful lifting is the importance of bending and twisting. Improper bending and trunk twisting contributes to pain. Use cold compresses for pain WITH swelling and heat for pain WITHOUT swelling. There are many helpful holistic and homeopathic aids that can be very useful. This subject is very near and dear to me as a back surgery patient.
