Beef and Broccoli Ramen Stir Fry

This easy stir fry is both delicious and easy-to-make. It’s a one-pan dinner twist on the popular Chinese takeout broccoli and beef dish we’ve come to love throughout the years.  If you throw in some ramen and sauce, it the perfect complete meal for the entire family.

I used sirloin steak when making this dish, because it’s the perfect mix of lean meat and fat, but you can obviously use whatever cut of meat you prefer.  My suggestion would be to avoid using one that has a high fat content, and I’d also avoid cuts that are tough if not cooked properly such as chuck roast or round roast.

How I Prepped the Beef:

I trimmed any fat off the beef and cut the meat into thin slices approximately 1/4 inch thick slices.  I marinated the slices in  Hoisin sauce, salt and pepper for 2 hours before cooking.

Which Ramen did I use for the Stir Fry?

I’ve been trying to watch my gluten intake, so I snagged Organic Millet and Brown Rice Ramen from Costco. It’s gluten free and it comes with 12 packs of ramen making it easier for you to measure how much ramen you’d like to add to the stir fry. You can also just snag the cheap ramen and discard the seasoning packet.

How did I make the Stir Fry Sauce:

This sauce is jam-packed with a wide variety of ingredients, so if you’re looking for something simple, this probably isn’t the recipe you want to follow. If you’re looking for mouth-watering flavor, proceed with the recipe.

The soy sauce and sesame oil give the recipe it’s umami taste, whereas, the honey and hoisin sauce bring out some tasty sweetness. The ginger and garlic bring out additional aromatic flavors.

This recipe makes a ton of sauce, because I like sauce. I like there to be too much sauce rather than not enough.

Cooking Order:

  1. Start by cooking the sirloin
  2. I steamed the broccoli separately-make sure to not steam too long. Leave it crispy, not mushy
  3. Cook ramen as instructed, then add to steak and broccoli mix
  4. Stir in the sauce with sirloin, broccoli and ramen.
  5. Once sauce thickens, add some green onion and sesame and serve hot.

Ingredients:

For the stir fry sauce

  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/3 cup  soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 hoisin sauce
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

For the stir fry

  • 6-packs of ramen OR 2 (3 ounce packages dried ramen noodles-season packets discarded)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of far and sliced into 1/4 inch strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 broccoli florets, sliced up
  • sesame seeds, garnish
  • green onion, garnish

Directions:

  1. Prepare the sirloin by cutting off the fat and slicing the meat into 1/4 inch slices
  2. Cook the sirloin in a wok pan with olive oil until browned
  3. Prepare stir fry sauce by adding the ingredients together ensuring all ingredients are mixed thoroughly together
  4. Prepare the ramen noodles as instructed on packaging
  5. Steam broccoli
  6. Add the cooked ramen, sirloin and broccoli to wok pan with sauce. Let cook a few minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Add sesame seeds and green onion for garnish
  8. Serve hot and enjoy

This recipe is jam-packed with flavor. It’s also super easy to make, so if you’re looking for something easy to make and tasty, this is an easy go-to!
