Touch-A Truck

This year’s touch-a-truck, hosted by Junior League of Kalamazoo at the Kalamazoo Fair Grounds, was (mostly) a success. It was chilly for a Saturday in May, but both boys really enjoyed the event. There were a few minor meltdowns due to nap schedules, cold and hunger, but for the most part the boys were cooperative. This was Braxton’s third time attending the event and Beckett’s first. Beckett was enthralled with everything. He wanted to climb onto and into every single vehicle. He even made the police cruiser’s siren go off during the time where siren’s weren’t allowed to go off. Ooops!

Every year, this fun event brings in 65+ unique trucks that serve, protect and build our community. Children and adults are free to explore and learn about each vehicle. The event is cheap ($10/family) to attend, and there is food available for purchase and activities for kids to participate in.

The event runs from 10-2 with the first two hours devoted to a siren free experience. After that, sounds are permitted. The event is spread out and allows for a decent afternoon of exploring and learning. I highly recommend parents to consider taking their kids there next year. The price and experience is a win-win for parents and their kids.

Here are some pictures from our fun day!
